Two years of The Cornerstone Foundation
During 2018/19, The Foundation disbursed an amazing £788,367 to the people we support, our services and various Cornerstone projects. These funds were used to support our specialist children’s projects, provide a range of social activities, purchase specialist equipment, provide additional hours of care not funded through statutory provision, as well as making 74 Quality of Life requests for individuals and services possible.
These funds were made available thanks to the help of our committed supporters and fabulous team, who raised an incredible £883,192. A fantastic amount that will continue to help the people we support across Scotland.
Last year we had an incredible 94 trekkers take part in the Kiltwalk and have been delighted with the uptake so far this year. People also took part in festive fun runs, skydives, bike rides and global challenges as well as baking cakes, jumping out of helicopters, race nights and Fizz Fridays to raise vital funds for us. You name it, our supporters have given it a go!
I have recently returned from a wonderful experience walking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. My friends Susan and Debbie joined me and together we raised almost £11,000. The experience, although hard work, has left me with amazing memories. If you’d like to read more about my experience – please read my blog here.
A huge thank you has to go to our amazing support worker colleagues, who on top of the incredible work they do day to day looking after the people they support, have raised an incredible £39,338 across our services.
We are lucky to receive support from local businesses as well as receive grants from trusts and foundations. This year we also saw an increase in people who donate monthly, gifts made in memory of a lost one and donations received online via new website which was launched last summer. Please feel free to explore our website and see what fantastic features we have available. In our 'Latest' section', you'll find the rest of the stories listed in your email.
Baxter Bear joined the team this year and has been a huge success with our staff and people we support, and has been out in the community helping with our bag packs and bucket collections.
We are delighted to launch our first major raffle this summer, with a top prize of £2,000 cash, which you can read more about in the coming pages.
We have many exciting things in store for the year ahead. If you’d like to get involved in any way, please do get in touch with us.
