Hi my name is Jessica and I am 10 years old, I live at home with my parents and my dog and in addition to this I am supported by Cornerstone to live my very busy life! I have a very good relationship with my staff team who support me to go my regular activities such as brownies and choir. I have also been supported to go to roller disco and to places such as the Falkirk Wheel. I need high levels of support 24hrs per day so my nightshift staff provides overnight care to me 3 nights per week. This allows my Mum and Dad to get full nights sleep.
Jessica has a diagnosis of Complex Epilepsy and Cerebral palsy amongst other things and requires 24 hour care and support in all aspects of her day to day life. From birth Jessica has never had a good sleeping pattern and since her epilepsy diagnosis can take seizures during the night meaning one of us has to be up to monitor her. She is gastrostomy fed on the Ketogenic diet and is on medication for reflux, epilepsy and her movement disorder. We have been receiving support as a family now for 4 years and don’t know where we would be without Cornerstone. Myself and my husband have both had health issues in the past and at times have both suffered from mental health issues. Having the support from Cornerstone has lessened our anxieties and given us the confidence to spend time together away from home knowing that Jessica is being well looked after.
Please join us for an informal networking and information event exploring how local businesses and The Cornerstone Foundation can transform the lives of local children.
